Have used Nokia and Motorola phones up till now. Picked up the LG 500 this week. How do you get MP3 ringtones on to this thing? I looked around Google, seems to be too new yet.
I have used the LG Music Manager to put loads of MP3s on th ephone memory card to listen to....fine.. But I always used my MP3s on old phone, easily draged and dropped with their progies.. Now with LG it seems to be not possible. No info in the manual, other than download em!

Thanks for any insight. Much appreciate it.

I made some slow progress. The phone store don't know how to get MP3s on this thing, beside download for a fee. The other store in town also has no clue. I called Rogers up and they have no clue. They said to call LG and I gave up messing around with them on the phone in the end. I guess this things too new.

So I figured that the extra ringtones that came on the software CD are in MMF files. These can be dragged over to the phone to add ringtones, but are not very good to be bothered with. The info for this phone says it plays MP3 Ringtones. Is that in actual MP3 format on the phone? I'd expect it to be.

So I just want my clips of MP3 as ringtones on this phone, I have on my old Motorola and sitting in a folder on the PC.
So I now find how to convert MP3 to MMF. So this phone might play the MMF files if I can drag those to the phone with the software.
I download ...(for free!)...Yamaha SMAF Converter and Wavepad and succesfully converted several MP3s very easily. But they sound like garbage now! Sound a lot quieter, terrible quality and totally not worth using. This is on the phone, and you cna preview the converted files on the PC first and sound the same poor quality after conversion. I guess its to be expected. I imagined that with a conversion program with Yamaha in the name that it wouldn't end up like this.

Anyhow, thats as far as i got.

Anyone had experience with converting MP3 clips to MMF for riingtones for this LG 500....and sound the same?

    THX.
