I hve a quick question, do I need to convert the music to midi? They are mp3's now. I notice that trying it your way one song at a time takes a bit.

Re: LG vx9800 Guide

No not ringtones, regular music. I am "very" new to all this and don't have a playlist set up on my computer. If I move my music to a playlist will the bitpim see that at make the loading easier?

Re: LG vx9800 Guide

anyone know off the top of their head how much memory is allocated for ringtones on the phone and can u delete the factory VZW rings to free up room.
i make my own rings with cool edit pro and they are about 20 secs long at 64kbps with 24000 sampling rate and it will only hold about 10-12 ringtones.
if i sample them at less than 64kbps then the sound isn't as good.

thx in advance!

if you have v2 software then you can get just over 9mb of ringtones on the internal memory.

if you have v1 software it is not recommend to go over 3mb because it has been known to destroy your phone.

if by chance you do have v1 then you should upgrade anyway. if you are not sure what you have or how to upgrade then just look at the first post in this sticky.

V05...?

I just got a replacement LG VX9800, and previously having version 2, there seems to be a version 5 now... it's pissing me off because they've made some changes to the video filetypes that are viewable and I can't get 3GP to convert anything correctly for the phone's newer specific standards... Anyone know anything about the changes that were made since ver. 2?

Great stuff Fletch.

Don't worry and I hope you like answering questions because I'm buying one of these and I WILL have questions, I always do.

For now, tell me, can I ENLARGE the fonts in any of the windows? My eyes are going real ****ty bro.

Thanks

George

Haven't bought it yet bro so I'm good for a few days. I'll check it out but I've gotta tell you, I'm not much on reading manuals and most of them suck anyway.

I do find that asking questions is easier so like I said, you want questions? I've got questions!

Isn't the Q a pain to dial on?

Thanks

George

not at all. i am a phone guru and have bought just about every cool phone verizon has put out in the last 3 years and hacked them all up to do all they can and the Q is by far the best piece of equipment i have used. it is MUCH easier to carry in my pocket than the 9800 as well.

i still think the 9800 is a great phone but if it were me and i wanted more everything from a phone ( not just making calls ) then i would get the Q again in a second.

again i really liked the 9800 and it isnt really fair to compare them.
