I have a dumb question, but honestly I'm just too lazy to find the book. My husband has an LG VX8000 and wants to know how to lock and unlock his keypad so it doesn't beep every time he bumps it... Thanks!

On my 8100 it's the #. I'm pretty sure it's the same on the 8000. To unlock the stock code is the last four digits in you number.

The doing as reader suggested will put your phone into whats called "Manner Mode". It will turn all sound off from the phone; including all ringers, ringtones, keypad sounds, etc, and put the phone into vibrate mode only. If your husband would like, he can just go into volume control and turn the volume of the keypad down. To do this go to:

    MENU
    SETTINGS & TOOLS
    SOUNDS
    KEYPAD VOLUME

What tavenger is talkin about, at least with my phone is the lock the keypad or "keyguard". That prevents any numbers or anything else for that matter from accidently happening to your phone while it is on your side, in your purse, pocket, etc. Most of the time you have to press the menu button to deactivate this. I use this feature as I am always hitting my phone (especially climbing in and out of my truck) and found out I was speed dialing my wife or daughter all the time and didn't know it.
