I havn't really messed with this, just read up on it.
Anyone here use it? Any particular input on your use? Hidden charges? Get good use out of it?
Any input would be great, thanks.

Re: Lg 9800 Gps
When they say the phone has GPS, it's not the kind of GPS where you can pull up a map and look at where you are. All newer phones have a built-in GPS that allows 911 service to locate you in an emergency, or can sometimes be used to locate a lost/stolen phone if you give your service provider permission to use it for that purpose. Hope this helps clear up the confusion.
Now, a lot of Nextel phones have a Telenav thing which works like an in-car GPS but also I believe someone told me your boss or whoever pays your account can look at where you are on a computer. That's a little bit different, but your phone has the same GPS mine does, just a location device mainly for emergency services.
edit: "The TeleNav Java enabled GPS Navigator service is available on Sprint's Sanyo 5600, 7400 and LG 535 mobile handsets as well as all GPS and Java-enabled handsets currently in the Nextel portfolio, including the new BlackBerry 7520 from Nextel." -source: Telenav.net AnnouncementLast edited by Brad729; 05-23-2006 at 09:10 AM.

Re: Lg 9800 Gps
The 9800 does have an option on it called the VZ Navigator (in the "Get It Now" section of the phone).
VZ Navigator is:
A Get It Now application that allows you to locate places, get directions to any destination and to get a map of a location. There are four features, shown as menu options, within VZ Navigator: (i) Navigation provides turn-by-turn directions with audible prompts when you are approaching a turn; (ii) Local Search provides the ability to search for places of interest such as restaurants, gas stations and ATMs; (iii) My Places provides quick access to locations you have saved or recent location searches you have performed; and (iv) Maps provides the ability to select a location and view maps of the selected location.
This is a subscription feature. You will be charged to have it every month.
When I first got my 9800, you could use this feature for a day for free. It was nice and surprisingly fast and accurate.
I suppose if you were in a big city for the first time or going someplace for the first time, it would really be nice, but I live in a little po-dunk town, and really didn't see the need for it.
So if this is what you were talking about...then there's your answer. If, you were talking about the GPS enabled device...that is a Federal Law now that all cell phones be so equipped.
