vx9800 usb drivers help

this has probably been asked 10000 times but i looked at all the replies and nothing has worked for me yet...

i bought cellphoneshop's usb cord and tried to install the drivers that they provided a link for. Unfortunately, it seems like those drivers are for windows 2000 and might have screwed my computer up a bit. I attempted to get rid of those drivers but it doesnt seem like i can so i just deleted the registry for the phone/usb cord so i could start over. I then tried Mobile Action's drivers and while they were installing, it asked me to put the usb cord in the computer and connect the phone, which i did. However, it still doesnt recognize it (the problem i've been having from day 1) im running Windows XP and selected all the options perfectly for my phone (verizon --> vx9800 ---> windows xp) etc, but the drivers wont work, the usb wont work, and my computer doesnt even recognize it was there (my computer says "found new hardware lg usb com but the driver installation is clueless. )

Anyone have any ideas?

This is a really annoying problem, makes me wanna shoot my computer for being so stubborn

again im running cellphoneshop's usb cord that was grouped with my lg phone, plug fits perfectly, computer recognizes the usb cord is plugged in, but usb driver installation has no idea what is what

Do you have your phone set to usb connection?

did you try Future Dial yet?

i actually found out the problem was caused by a virus... no lie.. i went on trend micro, did a virus scan.. deleted a couple.. then tried again.. and it worked... didnt know that was possible
