VX 8100 Question.

When I download the mp3's to my 8100 they go into my sounds folder rather than my ringtones folder. and you cant set my sounds as ringers so is there any way to get them into my ringtones folder or set them as a ringer? thanks

yes, you have to save'em to your computer then send it via data cable to your phone, i suggest you use bitpim, it makes it easier

Re: VX 8100 Question.

also, don't try and use an entire mp3 for a ringtone as after 4 or 5 rings, it automatically goes to voicemail anyway.

Get a program like Audacity, or find a site that offers free ringtones and download and use them instead.

Re: VX 8100 Question.

anything in the sounds folder cannot be used as a ringtone.
the best way to get them on the phone is with QPST (google and download)
once in QPST and you can see the file system.
delete my_ringtone.dat and my_ringtonessize.dat
then put add ringtones to the following folder.
brew/16452/lk/mr
then reboot phone.
if you have any problems just ask in here.

Re: VX 8100 Question.

hey everyone--
thanks for your help! & Thank you, Teamneon, for the step by step instructions! This forum seems packed w/knowledgable people.
I just got the VX8300 a couple days ago and this thread really helped me to make my own ringtone. I couldn't find QPST anywhere and used BitPim instead, following Teamneon's instructions, which worked just fine.
