#1 | | Junior Member | I just purchased an LG VX8100 which I plan to also use as an MP3 player. This means that I will need to purchase a mini SD. When shopping for these, I noticed that Sandisk are almost twice the cost of other brands (K2, ATP, etc.). It there a reason that I should pay extra for the Sandisk? Is there anything wrong with the other brands?
OT: I am assuming that I just need the software and data cable to download wma's from my PC. Is that correct?

#5 | | Daderator | Sandisk is just like Apple, or Intel, Compaq, etc....your buying a name. I have quite a few Sandisk's, but I also have 2 Kingstons and they work just as fine.
Basically your paying for the name, and IMHO they do put out a better quality product than most.
To answer your question, in most cases, no..there is no difference.
If I was you, unless you plan on using bitpim or futuredial to do more than put mp3's on the card, I'd just buy a card reader. It's bar far the easiest, and the fastest way to transfer or your songs to the card.
You can get a reader at any electronic's store and even WalMart sells them for like $19.95.
EDIT: Also Sam, once you have opened the wrapping on a memory card, most (like over 90%) won't take the card back. So even though you got your card from oversea's, if something does go wrong with it, your in no worse shape than most of us here in the states.

#7 | | Phone Addict | another cheap company is PNY...their mini sd cards (and even jump drives) are less expensive and work the same. If you know someone at best buy their employee cost is like $30 on a 1 gigger.

#8 | | Sr. Member | Just check speed rates when you buy a minisd card, reviews always come in handy.
Sandisk is just a name.. and there are cards with faster speed rates I am sure.

#9 | | Junior Member | Well, I ended up getting a 512mb Sandisk at Circuit City for $40 less a $20 mail in rebate.
I could have probably found a 512mb card bit cheaper online, but I wanted to use my phone's MP3 player this weekend and I haven't found many 512mb cards for less than $20.

#10 | | Phone Addict | Since you got it, I guess it's too late for me to respond back.
But for other people who might be thinking of getting a miniSD, I don't think it makes a huge difference which brand to get.
I have found some really cheap on the Internet for 2 GB for a price of 512 MB if you got it in the store.
If you want the best prices, I recommend going to Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more , Froogle , and Yahoo! Shopping Find Great Products Online, Compare, Shop & Save .
