lg 3300 computer doesn't see it

Just got a 3300 & serial port data cable. Had a Startac that worked fine with my laptop using a serial cable & a pcmcia card. I went out of my way to get the serial cable for the LG because I knew the setup worked with the Startac. Anyway the computer doesn't recognize that the phone is connected to it. Help please

you have a serial cable for the 3300? eek..lol
the usb is alot easier...it installs and looks for drivers automatically.
you will probably have to add new hardware and tell it where to find the drivers for the cable and the phone.

I don't believe my computer would recognize my usb port as a com port.
