Unlock LG CG225

any info on how I can unlock this phone??

I assume your phone is locked to Cingular. (It's a good idea to include a little more info on requests like these, fyi.)

From my own research regarding LG GSM phones, you'll need a data cable and the specific software to unlock this phone. LG phones are way harder to unlock than say a Samsung or Nokia, which will unlock via a code put in by the user.

Is there a reason for the needed unlock?

Have you contacted Cingular's customer service? They do unlocking for customers of theirs with 90+ days of service.

Thanks for the info. You are correct I am locked to Cingular
I have the new cingular LG CG225. I am traveling to Europe
and want to use a Euro sim card while I am on vacation.
I called customer service to obtain the code, still waiting.
But based on past experience with cingular and unlock codes
I think they personaly give out wrong codes. I had a Moto
V551 and asked for the code. They gave it to me without instructions
and I ended up permanetly locking my phone. I figured I would
try and unlock it myself via software on the computer but dont
know what resources I need to do this. I am computer savy
so feel free to get technical in your response if you need to.

Honestly, I don't have the technical answers for you. I had been looking into it at one point, but when I realized how expensive of a project it would become, I abandoned it. Seriously, from my research, it was going to cost more to buy the equipment and software, not to mention my time, than it would have been to buy an unlocked phone.

Procedure from ATT/Cingular Wireless for an LG CG225 phone (this requires using the SIM from another carrier - I have done it with a T-Mobile SIM and requires the unlock code from ATT/Cingular Wireless):

1. Power off phone, remove battery, and remove ATT/Cingular SIM.
2. Insert SIM from another provider, power on phone.
3. Phone presents "Restricted" screen. Press cancel button.
4. Phone presents "Unlock Code" screen. Enter code number from ATT/Cingular
5. Phone should indicate that it is unlocked.

Done.

I understand the unlocking procedure, but what is the code?!
