    Right now my software is ver.1 and if i go to a local verizon dealership and ask for a software upgrade. Will they upgrade it to the highest current version? Which is ver.5 right? Also if they do upgrade it to ver.5 will i still be able to use a program to put ringtones on my phone (such as bitpim) ?

    Yes. I believe the difference is that you can't use mp3's with the player. They haveta be wmas. However, the latest version has a lot of bug fixes over the first version.
