As long as your service uses the CDMA standard (it's called a "standard", right?), I don't see why you couldn't. Although I'd personally suggest you go with the LG VX8600, though... Oh man, I love it so much!

Just wish I could get 24 hour time...

Keep in mind there are two different varieties of LG Chocolate. Verizon offers the LG VX8500 (the CDMA version). There is also the KG800 (a GSM version which is currently only available in Korea). The KG800 is "unlockable" for activation on any GSM network. CDMA phones are completely different and not "unlockable" in the same way. While it is true that some CDMA networks will allow you to activate other provider's phone, for the most part you will have crappy performance and quality, even from the best phones, simply because the phones will not be supported by your provider when you have problems.

They will activate just fine on a GSM provider's network, however, as I previously posted, you will only be able to use the phone to place and take calls. The special features of the phone and of your network will be unusable as they are incompatible. (With the notable exception of the MP3 player which is not network dependent.)
