LG VX 8300 earpiece volume problem.

My wife and I just bought new VX 8300's over the weekend. So far we both like our new phones but I am having a bit of a problem with mine. When I am talking to someone, the earpiece volume varies drasticly. It doesnt matter what volume level I have it set on. The person on the other end will be so quiet you can barely hear them, then all the sudden it becomes very loud. The voice quality isnt bad its just the fading in and out. My wife says hers is fine. Could I just have a bad one? We had LG 6100's before and never had this sort of problem. I may take it back and get another one. Any thoughts?

Are both phones set up exactly the same? For instance, is auto volume turned on or off on both phones?

Turn off the Voice Privacy setting that should do it.
