Antenna Booster for VX8600

Hi , new member here. I just upgraded my LG VX6100 Tri-mode to a VX8600 on Verizon. I live in a all digital area but it is very hilly and my home sits in a low area. Love the 8600 but the are no bars to one bar on the phone. Quite often it drops calls or will encounter static and I have to move to a different area of the house to complete the call. I did not have this trouble on my 6100 and have only 15 days to return the phone to Verizon. I have also *228 my roaming codes and this did not help.

Now to my question: Has anyone ever used these antenna boosters that you stick on the window of your car or home to improve reception quality? Are they worth the money? If so what brands and model should I consider?
Thanks Ray

Re: Antenna Booster for VX8600

Thought I would clarify what I am asking about: It is an external antenna not the piece of paper with gold paint.

Re: Antenna Booster for VX8600

I have heard both good things and bad about external antenna's...so can't really say on that.

I have heard they are very expensive.

As for the ones you stick on your car...back in the day they worked great for my bag phone, but haven't had to use one since then...so really can't say on that one either.

Myself, I would stick with a tri-mode phone and that would seem to solve all the problems.

I did a quick search on Verizon's site and this is the link to what tri-mode phones they still have available:

Re: Antenna Booster for VX8600

I got one on my boat, and I can go 30-40 miles offshore and get signal.

PowerMax™ DA4000 Direct Connect Cellular Signal Amplifier Cell Phone Booster - Digital Antenna

I had it piece it together but it was about $450.00 for 50' of cable and the booster and everything else. You can probably get it done for around $350.00. Since you probably only need 8' of cable.

Re: Antenna Booster for VX8600

Why would anyone want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a booster. If you are dropping calls, get a Tri Mode phone. I have the 8600 and by far, it is the best phone I have ever had. Battery life and recption for me is far superior than any phone I have had. I had a business trip last week and I did not have to charge the phone until my 3rd night and that charge only took about an hour. To date, I have no issues with recepetion. I use my phone in my home office which is in the basement of my home and while I only get 1 bar, I have not dropped a call yet the the reception is good.
