Volume Booster?? LG VX8300

I'm probably out of luck on this one, but does anyone if

there is a way to boost the volume output beyond the maximum

settings on the LG VX8300? The max settings just don't crank

my mp3's loud enough for my taste. I use the headset adapter

from Verizon and a pair of nice Koss headphones (I've tried

others so I know that's not the problem). The volume is okay

for quiet places where the ambient noise is low (such as in

the office, for instance), but as soon I step outside with

the street noise, etc., I find myself wishing I could turn it

up higher. I've seen a Headset Amplifier on Verizon's website

for about $30. Has anyone tried this yet and does it make

much of a difference?

You sure it's not the headphones? These phones aren't really designed to output to larger style headphones. I have a pair of AKG's that are very low when hooked up to my phone. Try some earbuds, I bet they'll be louder. Either that or get the amp.

I've tried several other headphones including some buds I bought when I first got the cell phone. Is my assumption correct the VX8300 is just not built to crank out large amounts of volume the way an ipod would?

The amplifier is listed under the hearing aids category on the Verizon website. It is described as:

"Hear every word up to 3 times louder. The Amplifier increases incoming sound up to 24db, enabling individuals with difficulty hearing to have clear and understandable conversations on a mobile phone. It also improves conversation clarity in noisy environments, even if hearing loss is not an issue. It easily connects between the phone and handset working with most mobile phones with a standard 2.5 mm handset port."

I don't need a hearing aid. My question is, will this amplifier do what I'm hoping, which is to increase the volume of my music files without affecting sound quality?
