I just upgraded to a VX8300 and want to put some new ringtones on my phone that are small pieces of various mp3 songs I have on my computer. I have a card reader for my microSD but I don't know how that may come in to play. What is the best way to do this without having to pay the high amounts for the downloaded ringtones that so many companies offer?

If you could please explain what I need to do or point me to a url that explains this I would be very grateful. Thanks so much for your help!

You need to buy a USB cable and make sure it has the drivers with it. Once you do that, download the latest edition of Bitpim. With these two items you can do alsmost anything with your phone.
