LG VX8600 vs. LG VX8700

Hey all, I can do the "New Every 2" with Verizon and I am going to choose between either 8600 or 8700

My 2 year price for 8600 comes out to only $30.00 while my 8700 comes out to $80.00 with the credit.

My question is...is the 8700 worth the extra $50? Thoughts?

Have you gone to a store and tried out both phones? I think that once you put them both in your hand, your answer will be obvious! The 8700 is outstanding!

Interesting. The standby time on the 8700 is ALOT less than on the 8600. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...........

No way! The 8700 has an all aluminum shell, making it possibly the strongest phone in the Verizon lineup (next to the G'z One).

Hey bagelred I have the 8600 and than a few weeks later they came out with the 8700. Here are some differences. The 8700 does not have a full color front display like the 8600. The 8700 is a little heavier by 0.51oz, shorter by 0.06", longer by 0.02", and 0.04" thinner. Also standby and usage time are slightly less which I think is not a big deal. There are also no external media controls. You can't go wrong with lg phones. Both models are nice. I like the 8600 the best but than again I do not have the 8700.

personally I would get the 8600

I have the AX8600 (haven't seen the VX8700) But I love the 8600 for the things I use it for and it seems very durable. You will see complaints about the speakerphone and the camera in some of the posts. I admit I don't use these much. But I love the the large front display mentioned by a previous poster. It makes it nice to be able to read text messages without opening your phone, same with moving through the songs on your mp3 player. I haven't dropped any calls on this phone and I have used it in some very rural areas.

Keep in mind that the AX8600 is Alltel's version of Verizon's VX8600.

I've been using the 8600 for about 5 months and tried out an 8700 the other day at the Verizon kiosk.

There seems to be a bit more tactile feedback with the 8700's keyboard...I liked that. I also liked the 'look' of the phone.

But I'm not rushing out to replace my 8600 with an 8700. I'm happy enough!

It's all personal preference. Try them out. Hold them in your hands.

Ive had the 8600 for about 2 months now and i was in the same situation as you.

i personally thought the 8700 was tacky looking and very ugly when you opened it

also the front display is almost usless and it has no external music buttons

also the 8600 is much louder than the 8700 and even the chocolate which is ment for music

so i got the 8600 and its probally the best phone ive had yet
