Does verizon keep the information?
so someone stole my phone if they were to go and activate it would it show as stolen
could verizon find out that its stolen?

As long as you reported to Verizon that it was stolen, the ESN woul go on the "Stolen ESN" lst and noone will ever be able to reactivate it.
