I got an LG VX5300 in exchange a few weeks ago for my old Audiovox 8610 that was defective (roaming/analog everywhere).
I've been noticing that my new LG keeps restarting. It seems to only happen at night. Maybe its because it's darker and I can see the light of the bright white "US CELLULAR" screen that flashes until it finally shows an animation of what appears to be grass with a starry background before an asteroid or something comes across the sky and blows up, then the phone returns to normal for a few minutes. I'm assuming this animation is the normal on/off animation, but I'm not sure since I've never intentionally shut off or turned on my phone. I always leave it on.
This happens every night, and sometimes wakes me up if I'm just starting to doze off, since I keep the phone right next to me on my nightstand. It also kills the battery extremely fast. I charge my phone fully each night, and every morning I wake up to 1 or 2 bars of battery, then I have to recharge it again. I'm not sure whether it does this during the day because I can usually keep all 4 battery bars during the day, and occasionally it goes down to 3. I can't see why it would only do it at night though... it seems like if something is wrong it'll do it no matter the time of the day.
It's also more than annoying flash of light when I try to call people. Just about every time I go to make a phone call and hit the "Send" button, nothing happens. No ringer or anything, and when I look at the screen it says it's calling, but there's no call timer. I end the call and as soon as I hit "end" it restarts. Once it's done with that I can usually make the call I want. It doesn't seem to do it on incoming calls, only outgoing.
Also, I'm not sure if the phone is actually restarting. It just seemed more logical and descriptive than the term "freaking out" that I use to describe it to my friends. It's just my best guess that it's restarting itself.
Does anyone else have an LG VX5300 that does the same thing? Is my phone screwed up or what? Maybe it's supposed to do this, but it just doesn't seem right. My only other thought is maybe its some kind of feature to help if you lose your phone in the dark. That doesn't seem like it's a feature worth losing sleep over.

Re: LG VX5300 Keeps Restarting
Well I've observed it a little bit closer. I can't get incoming calls or texts, then once the phone restarts (or I manually restart it), I get tons of messages saying I have new voicemails/texts. So the phone wasn't actually off at this time, since you can't recieve texts when the phone is off. It's more like it was on, just not responding to anything. If this isn't fixed soon I'm going to have one high text bill by the end of the month, since I can only get voicemails and texts and can rarely call out (including checking my voicemail, so texting is better).

Re: LG VX5300 Keeps Restarting
I have US Cellular. I actually found out the US Cellular model is called the UX245, but it is the same exact thing as Verizon's 5300. I did more research after I posted this and it seems that this happens with 99% of this model of phone. I found one topic on another forum where someone said they returned the phone and had recieved 4 new ones of the same model, and they ALL did it. I took the phone back to US Cellular and they gave me the same thing, so I am willing to be taht in a few weeks I'll be having trouble with this one too.
