#1 | | Newbie | I am going to be selling my 8100, 6100, and 3200 and want to know if you can reset to factory defaults. So this way none of my stuff is in there and also my number will not be seen in the "my number".

#2 | | I hate spammers! | Actually, you want to do 3 distinctly different operations:
1. Erase your contact list - Erase Contacts (this is found in the security menu in settings and tools on your 6100 and 3200. On the 8100 you will have to go one level deeper, into "Phone Setting" and choose "Master Clear")
2. Return phone to factory default settings - Reset Default (also found in security menu. On the 8100 it is called "Master Reset")
3. Remove your MTN (Mobile Telephone Number) information from the phone's memory - this is not possible without editing the NAM info, and that is something nobody should mess with unless they know exactly what they are doing. You can easily brick a phone by doing something wrong in the NAM screens. Better just to leave it and hope you sell the phone to someone who does not bear any malicious intent towards you.

#4 | | | I'm sorry, but that is getting a bit to deep into area's where normal user's shouldn't be. As Paul stated, one wrong push of a key will turn your phones into paper weights, and you might as well throw them in the garbage.
Do as Paul said to clear everything out of the phone, and then sell them. They can't be used for anything until the person buying them takes them in, and then at that time, Verizon or whatever carrier it is will run a check on the phones to make sure they are not reported lost or stolen, then if all is ok, the company will put a new number on the phone.
Remember, besides not being able to take the phone numbers off the phone, you won't be able to reset the total talk time/hours the phone has been used either.

#5 | | Newbie | What I don;t want to happen is having a buyer prank 911 because the number in the nam will still show up on 911's screen. Also other types of pranks I am not willing to take.
I understand it can be too lengthy to type, so a link would be just fine. I have modded bioses for computers, reflashed rom chips for pinball machines and so on. So hopfully this will be within my skill level. | | |

#6 | | I hate spammers! | First of all, the number in the NAM may show up, but so will the GPS location of that device... which, incidentally, will probably not be your GPS location.
Second, that is so very unlikely to happen. Generally, the person buying your phone is doing so because their phone is damaged and they just need a phone. They will probably activate the phone as soon as they get it, they will not want to take the time to prank you on their way to the local Verizon store.
Let it go, paranoia is not a pleasant personality trait in a reasonably intelligent, reasonably rational person.
