#1 | | Newbie | Hello, all!
So I have a small issue with my new LG VX8500.
Love the phone, and just got the music package so love it more.
I was fooling around with it today, putting mp3s on the phone to see if they work. I have some files on my, acquired from various sources, on my PC. I was popping files on the phone from the PC to see how they play.
I have some files that I guess are bad rips and don't play in WinAmp but play fine in Rhapsody (realplayer) and popped some of these on the phone to see what happens.
When I sync, these files just don't show up on my "all songs" list. however, they seem to take up memory, and when I try to re-sync the phone with new songs from Windows Media Player, there is still space in my music memory occupied after deleting. I am assuming these are the files that just don't show on my list.
So my question, ... I am looking for a way to completely delete my music memory. These bad files are taking up about 20MB on my available 600MB of space, a considerable loss.
Thanks for the help!

#2 | | Mr Admin Guy | They're on your memory card? Can't you just erase them from your card while in a card reader?

#3 | | Newbie | No, they are not on a memory card, but in my phone's meager internal music memory. The only way I know of to delete these files is to resync the memory via Windows Media Player. I've tried syncing with both WMP and VCast Music Manager with no luck, there's about 20MB that won't delete even after resyncing.
It might not matter as much once I pick up a microSD mem card, but I'd like all the memory I can get.

#4 | | Daderator | If you have the Vcast Package on your phone, Have you tried to go into:
Music & Tones
My Music
Once your Music library comes up, click on:
Songs
Highlight any song, and then click on options
Now you should have the ability to erase the song. Can you do this?

Now you should have the ability to erase the song. Can you do this? | Well my evrsion ov Vcast has different tabs and such, but yes, I can go on my verizon music package and see the songs onmy phone, but the bad rips don't even show up so I cannot play them or delete them.
The only reason I know there are about 20MB still talen up in my memory is because I use Windows Media PLayer 11 to sync my phone, and when the memory bar comes up under the image on my phone there are 20MB taken up even after I sync the phone.

I have 22 megs of memory used up on my phone, and have very few personal things stored on the phone's memory (all things are stored on my memory card). The rest is actual program that are on the phone that are taking up the memory.

Also, as I mentioned about those "bad rips" which play in realplayer but not in WinAmp, I sync'd a few of those over and they just do not show up on the phone's song list. This leads me to believe the phone just can't read these files and they are sitting in music memory, unreadable, taking up space.
I finally got a response back from LG, and they have a 24hour support number they suggest I call. Maybe they have helpful advice on this.

Also, have you tried to reset the phone back to it's defaults. That should wipe all that away, as long as you don't mind losing the songs that actually work.
