So I downloaded the latest version of BitPim (1.0.2) and tried to connect to my AX8600 via USB cable. It does not work. Most of the time BitPim does not even show a port for the phone (under the comm port selection), and when it does show up (only if I turn the phone off and on while plugged-in) it's listed as inoperable.

The thing is, I bought a USB cable but lost the drivers that came with it. The cable has a sticker on it that says "VX8500", but from what I've read it should be compatible. I think I may need USB drivers for the cable, but I haven't been able to find any. Well, I found one, from CDMA, but it also fails to recognize that the phone is plugged in.

Windows finds it no problem and I have always been able to use Windows to copy files to and from the SD card. Anyone have troubleshooting steps for me to start? I either have a bad cable or bad drivers.

Re: AX8600 and BitPim - not working!

I have the same problem - have tried 2 different cables (1 of which came with the Jump Music Kit from Alltel) I cannot get it recognize the phone and will not find an available port.

When I plug the phone in without the bit pim the computer recognizes it immediately and opens the Media files automatically.

Any help someone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Okay, I found the solution for this.

First of all, BitPim is expecting your phone to appear as a modem, so go to Settings -> System -> PC Connection, and choose the RS-232 option. Now try plugging in your phone (I always did that by turning it off, plugging it in, then turning it on).

If that doesn't work, I found drivers you can download ----LINK the actual download link is in the description.

    I hope this helps you.
