LG VX8800 Concerns

Hey folks. Name's Joey. I'm new here, but I figure I'll welcome myself in pretty quickly as I am an avid technology geek and I crave these sort of things to be really up-to-date.

Alright, so I just bought a sweet new LG VX8800.

This phone is really awesome. I mean, it's lacking a few things I saw in the VX10000. That made me want to buy it instead of the 8800, however I decided the 100$ difference was easily too much for my budget. I will consider upgrading if need be, though, first I want to express some concerns.

I did not get to talk much with my customer representative as I purchased the phone. But I saw it's very nice, looked it over for about 40 minutes(yeah, I know.. lol).. And then decided it was for me.

I will ask here: Are there any known "gotchas" with this phone? I know its fairly new to the market but I really don't want a defective phone if it isn7t worth the 199$. I would easily upgrade to the Voyager if it is a better buy for 100$ more, honestly.

I heard that the Venus' touchpad is not-so sensative and may have annoying flaws to it, but that is sort of true with most touchpad phones(disregarding the Apple iPhone dare I speak of it, LOL, loathe loathe).. or so I believe.

I also heard the Voyager had similar problems with the touchpad being 'sketchy' as far as a good buy, but I want some input from you guys here before I really decide whether to keep my Venus or to upgrade to a Voyager.

There have been alot of sort of iffy reviews on both the Venus and the Voyager.. it kind of bothers me, seeing as I am a touchpad freak so I must have a phone with a nearly complete touchpad or I am going nowhere(as if), but I put the doubts aside for this purchase.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your opinions.

Re: LG VX8800 Concerns

Ah, well, alright. I got both now, the Voyager and the Venus, just to evaluate them both. I love them both actually, but the Voyager seems to be better.

I can't figure out how to add Ringtones from my computer to the Venus though, it's really odd. The Voyager seems to do it fine but I can only upload data or music to the Venus, and if I upload an mp3 as music it can't be set as a ringtone(to my knowledge). I tried it as data and it automatically put the mp3 into the music section of the phone's memory as soon as it read it from the data folder.

Anyone have any idea how to add ringtones without using that Verizon download software thing? Or is it even possible with the Venus.. I wasn't sure whether you could add your own ringtones regardless if you paid for them through Verizon or just had them on your computer(e.g. made them yourself).

EDIT: Nevermind, I used bitPim to change the files on Venus and such and do that, it worked fine. The ringtone is better quality than on my Voyager infact, funny lol. And I will experiment with the Voyager and BitPim to see if I can make the ringtones better quality. Thanks anyways thoguh everyone.
