CU515 microsd problem??????

I have an LG cu515 w/ a 1gb sandisk microsd. My problem is how do I upload to the microsd card. It seems for some reason I can only use a little bit of the space on the card, like 50mb. Is that normal or do I have to do something to the card to open it so I can use all the available space?
