LG with AIM problems

My buddy just bought an LG Rumor. When he signs on to AIM its goes through the Login and and actually says AIM Loading......then says DONE. But the screen stays there. It does not do anything else. His AOL shows he is logged in from another location......he hears a tone when I send an IM to him, but the screen stays on the DONE.
Any ideas?
