Connecting LG VX6100 to Mac

I'm trying to connect my old lg VX6100 to my computer (MacBook Pro running OSX Tiger). I'm using a USB cable and Bitpim, but whenever I try to detect my phone using Bitpim I get a "No phone detected/recognized" error. Anyone know what could be going on? Thank you.
