HELP!! With Putting Ringtones On My LG 8700 Flip

so ever since i got my lg shine flip 8700 a few months ago i have been trying to put music on my cell to put as my ringtone from my computer (by the way its a mac). so using bluetooth i put music on my cell and it goes under the my sounds folder. so after some research i found out that it needs to like be under 300 kb or under 30 secs. so using itunes i cut some songs down both under 300 kb and 30 secs and put it on my cell and i still cant set it as a ringtone. i even cut a song to 5 secs and it wouldnt let me set it. i have looked all over for help and tried multiple ways and none of them have worked. so does anyone have a solution to help me because im really desperate and would be ecstatic if i could set my songs as ringtones.

ps - would it help if i got an sd card to get ringtones on or no

send it to yourself as a pic file and then save it as a ringtone.

I think you said you had the tone on your sd card - if so, send it to yourself (like sending a picture file or text message) and when you receive it as a pic message (it will play but show no image), you have the option to save it as a ringtone.
