XV6900 custom ringtones

I will tell you now, I am NOT in the industry and am hardly qualified when it comes to the in's and out's of cell phones, lol. But if you have some info, please advise:

There seems to be NO way, through Verizon, to get custom ringtones. So, I need some help getting my music in the right place to utilize what you cell phone brains already know.

1) I have bought itunes and have CD's for music. Can I use either mp3's, wav and whatever itunes uses to dowload to my cell for my ringtones?

2) If the music is on my laptop, how do I get it to my cell?

3) Once getting it to my cell, what folder do I want to put it in so I can use it as a ringtone?

4) If I have to purchase a program to help "edit" the song and pick out the 20-24 seconds of it you want. what programs are you using and is the program self explanitory and easy to understand and work through?

Basicly, I need a step by step tutorial from someone in here that has added songs to his or her XV6900 and the Windows 6.0 program. Any info is very much appreciated.
