LG Glimmer complain worries me about getting VU

my buddy has a Glimmer, his complaint is that you cant set any of your mp3s as ringtones, or any content that you send to your phone as tones unless you download it from altell. I am planning on upgrading my contranct to the VU is this a problem on the VU as well or not? is my friend doing something wrong? is it doable?

I actually have the LG VU and my boyfriend has the Glimmer, it is true as you said on the Glimmer you can not assign ringtones unless purchased from Alltel. The Vu is not that way. You can assign them no matter where you get them from.
