I HAVE RECOMMENDED THAT THIS PHONE BE DISCARDED AND THAT NOONE I KNOW BUYS 1 OF THESE.!!!I HAVE POSTED THIS IN AS MANY FORUMS AS I COULD FIND ON THIS PHONE.
ALL IN ALL THIS IS A JUNK PHONE!!The sprint music and sprint tv doesn’t work(sprint blames lg for this),cant send picture mail or text with pictures attached,Everytime I try to go to my content manager I get something about the phone needs a handler, tell it to get the handler and the phone shuts down and restarts then tells you it needs the handler again.
I have called Lg and asked what format the ringtones were supposed to be in for them to work on my daughters rumor phone and they told me they didnt know that they just make the phones and sprint sends them the software to load onto it,I also called sprint and they told me to contact the lg people for any problems with the phone after sprint replaced it 1 time already 3 weeks after I got it originally. When i first got this phone from sprint(approx, march 2008)i didnt have any probs hooking it to my pc to alter settings and whatnot(actually got it to work fine thru the cables i have for the usb function)Uploaded some pics and music to the phone perfectly(B4 ACTIVATION WITH SPRINT!)after i got my phone activated thru sprint via phone call to their activation department it wouldnt connect to my pc at all(it connects and charges thru the usb cables, and when i go into usb mode to the mass storage option,it tells me to connect the usb cable that it is CURRENTLY connected to and charging from)I called sprint back and told them i couldnt get it to connect to my pc and they told me that it isnt supposed to.Well to make a long story short i finally got hold of a friend of mine that i found was working for sprint and he informed me that sprint blocks the ports that the phone uses to connect to the pc upon activation to keep people from changing anything in the phones so we will have to buy the customizations from them(I currently have an attorney looking into them selling items and advertising those items to do things that they block during activation),BUT SPRINT WILL SURE TELL YOU TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER(AND THE LG PEOPLE DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PHONE ACCORDING TO THE SUPPORT PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH)
I also have a
Mogul and they advertise it to have sprint music and sprint tv(which of course is blocked from sprint-htc has a upgrade that makes sprint music work-but of course sprint has the channels list blocked so it blocked the channels from coming thru to the phone).
But because Sprint is a jerk about ringtones, I couldn’t figure out how to put custom ringtones on my daughters rumor phone. Some websites suggest that you record it using the memo recorder on the phone, but it sounds awful! But because I am amazing, I figured it out! The ringtones sound perfect, clear, loud, and always work.
The trick to this was figuring out the file type. The preloaded ringtones are in a .3g2 format, which is a video file format. Weird, huh? But transferring it to that file type wasn’t enough. I’ve provided highly illegal directions and a “what you’ll need” list.
What you’ll need:
-1 micro SD card & (usually) provided reader for your computer.
Most laptops and some desktops have an SD reader built right in.
-A 100×100 pixel image. Plain black is fine. This is create-able in MS paint. (The image is necessary because this is, of course, a video file, and without a picture the phone will not see it as a video file.)
-Windows Movie Maker (Found at C:\Program Files\Movie Maker)
-Freez 3GP Video Converter (hxxp_//w_w_w_smallvideosoft.c.o.m/3gp-converter)
-And of course, the song you want as a ringtone! (in .mp3 format)
Directions:
Select a song
Open “Windows Movie Maker” (C:\Program Files\Movie Maker)
Import the song into WMM (tasks > import audio or music)
Drag the song to the Audio / Music timeline and cut down to appropriate part and time (no more than 30 seconds)
Upload a picture to cover the 30 seconds (the plain image!) and expand it to cover the entire song.
Once you’re satisfied, click “file > save movie file > save it to your desktop”
Upload the saved WMV file to Freez 3GP Video Converter
Alter to these specs:
Video Settings
Video Code: MPEG4
Resolution:176×144
Width: 176
Height: 220
Video Quality: 8-Medium
Zoom Mode: Letterbox
File format: 3GPP2
Audio Settings
Audio Code: AAC-LC
Audio Bitrate: 48kBPS
Audio Frequency: 22050 Hz
Channels: Mono
Click Convert
Transfer file to your memory card
Assign: On your phone menu, go to settings and tools > settings > sounds > ringer type > voice calls > caller id (or no caller id, whichever you prefer) > my albums > memory card > choose your file > assign.
And you’re done! I hope this worked for you.
