LG vx9800 KeyPad Lighting Issue

I've had this phone a couple of wks. now and Love it w/one exception. The keypad on the inside of the phone has only lit a couple of times it would come on for a sec. and go right back off.

I've not seen it come back on since. I've reset the phone and have been to the tools, display backlight. I currently have it set for "always on" still nothing. Please tell me I can fix this myself and don't have to send it off to be repaired.Thanks

Thanks but I bought the phone via E-Bay I'm on my sisters plan and w/out an upgrade I didn't want to pay the full price instore when I lost my free phone.

I was hoping that someone here would have other options before I send it off. I purchased a 3yr. warrenty w/it when I bought it I just would rather not be w/out it if it's a problem that I can solve myself.
