Problem erasing recently texted contacts (LG VX3300 phone)

Hello all,
Having trouble with this LG VX3300 phone

I need to clear out the list of contacts that are "recently messaged." When sending a new text message, if you hit contacts, "Recently Messaged" is under this menu.

There is no way to delete them I've found.

I've cleared all actual text messages, contacts, and recently called numbers, I've also tried "erasing contacts" from the Security menu. Nothing has erased them, including a "factory reset".

How do I just reset the entire damn phone or erase these contacts? :/ Factory reset left them, and the alarm clock settings, still in place.

Thanks for any help to point me in the right direction.
