Data Usage Management
Enabling the Data Usage Indicator / Limiter:
In order to prevent extra charges on your carrier agreement, you can set your device to automatically disable data connectivity once a certain limit is reached. Note: the method of measuring data traffic used by your phone differs from the method used by the carrier. As such, it's wise to set a limit that is lower than your actual data allowance.
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Tap "Mobile data"
- Perform the desired steps below:
- Enabling the Data Usage Limit:
- Mark the "Limit mobile data usage" check box.
- Tap and hold the "red" graph bar, and slide it to the desired data amount. Once this value is reached, the data connection will be automatically disabled
- Disabling the Data Usage Limit:
- Clear the "Limit mobile data usage" check box
- Setting a Usage Warning Limit:
- Tap and hold the "orange" bar and slide it to the desired value. Once this value is reached, you will be notified
- Enabling the Data Usage Limit:
Viewing Data Usage by Application:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Tap "Mobile data"
- If necessary, tap the "blue" graph bars and slide them left or right to select the desired time period
- Scroll down and view the list of applications that have used most data
- Tap an application to view detailed information about the app's data usage
Internet Browser Management
Clearing the Browser Cache, Cookies and History:
- From any of the home screens, tap "Apps"
- Tap "Browser"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Select "Privacy & Security"
- Press "Clear cache", "Clear all cookie data" and / or "Clear history" depending on what actions you wish to perform
- Press "Yes" to confirm
Use Tabbed Browsing:
To open a new browser window or to close one:
- While on the home screen, press "Apps" and open the "Browser"
- Tap the "Tabs" button in the upper-right corner
- Perform one of the following:
- To close a window:
- Scroll through the opened windows
- Tap the "Close X" button associated with the window that you wish to close
- To open a window: Tap the "New Tab" button
- To close a window:
Enabling / Disabling JavaScript:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Select "Browser"
- Tap the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings" > "Advanced"
- Mark or unmark the check box associated with "Enable JavaScript"
Syncing Options
Enabling / Disabling Background Data:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Tap "Mobile data"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Mark or unmark the check box associated with "Restrict Background data"
Sync Apps & Accounts:
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "System settings"
- Scroll to "Personal" and then tap "Accounts & sync"
- Perform one of the following steps:
- Setting accounts to automatically sync:
- Mark the check box associated with "Auto-sync data"
- Manually sync individual accounts:
- Select an account to edit, under "Accounts"
- Tap your user name or email address located at the top of the screen
- If required, adjust any available settings
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Sync now"
