Registering the 911 Address

Before being able to use Wi-Fi Calling, you may need to register your 911 address in T-Mobile's system. Otherwise, you may get a "REG09" error.

Changing the e911 Address via T-Mobile:

  1. Log in to "My T-Mobile"
  2. In the top navigation bar, click "Your profile"
  3. Click "Edit" under "Customer information"
  4. Enter your home address and then click "Save changes". It may take an hour or so for the update to complete

Changing the e911 Address via T-Mobile Beta:

  1. Log In to "My T-Mobile"
  2. Click "Profile" in the top navigation bar
  3. Click "Edit" next to "E911 Address"
  4. Enter your address, and then tap "Save"

Setting your Phone to Use Wi-Fi or Mobile Networks:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Select "System settings"
  3. Tap "Call" under "Wireless & Networks"
  4. Tap "Wi-Fi Calling" and select "Connection Preferences"
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • Wi-Fi Preferred: all the calls will be made over Wi-Fi if a network is available. Otherwise, a cellular network will be used
    • Cellular Network Preferred: all the calls will be made over the cellular network. If none is available, the calls will be made over Wi-Fi instead
    • Never use Cellular Network: by selecting this option, all of the calls will be made over Wi-Fi. If no Wi-Fi network is available, then the phone calls will not connect

Enabling Wi-Fi and Connecting to a Network:

  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "System settings" > "Wi-Fi"
  3. Press the switch associated with "Wi-Fi" to enable the feature
  4. Select the network that you wish to connect to
  5. If prompted, enter the network's password and then tap "Connect"

Enabling Wi-Fi Calling:

  1. Make sure that you've registered your 911 address (see the guide above)
  2. If necessary, enable Wi-Fi and connect to a network
  3. On the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  4. Tap "System settings"
  5. Tap "Call" under "Wireless & Networks"
  6. Tap the "Wi-Fi Calling" switch to enable the feature
