What is the specification for a WAV file to be played on the VN150? I had a music file (Sample Rate: 16 KHz, Sample Size: 16 bit mono) which played fine on my PC but was way too loud and distorted on the VN150. So what should it be?

Re: LG Revere: Specifications for WAV to play properly on LG VN150 Revere?
Can an LG VN150 Revere even play an MP3? And if so, how can I get it into the phone? I converted my file to an MP3. If I go to Picture & Video Messaging and choose "Standard Uploader" then I get the error "The duration of myfile.mp3 (652 seconds) is longer than 30 seconds." which is incorrect; it's actually just 29 seconds long. Perhaps the reason is that the help file for this page does not list MP3 as an accepted format:

Re: LG Revere: Specifications for WAV to play properly on LG VN150 Revere?
I stand corrected. I just assumed that it would play an mp3 file, but I'm actually not sure. Did you try using a shorter, smaller file? This limitation sounds like it is on the Verizon side of things, not the phone.
If the method of transferring files you tried doesn't work, You should be able to transfer a file to the phone using a usb cable and bitpim. Here's how to do it:
- Plug your VN150 into your PC with the USB cable
- start BitPim
- In BitPim, go to the View > View File System.
- Go to the Edit > Settings
- Change the phone type to LG-VX5500 and click Ok.
- In the left screen click on File system
- In the middle screen click on +Folder
- Then click on the +Synced folder
- There should be a folder for my_sounds
- Right click on the folder and select 'new file' - you should be able to copy files to that folder on the phone
(you can also copy files from the phone to your computer, like pictures)

Re: LG Revere: Specifications for WAV to play properly on LG VN150 Revere?
John, I followed your instructions through step 10, and now my MP3 file shows in the my_sounds folder in BitPim. But when I close BitPim, disconnect the USB cable, pick up the phone and go to Menu / Media Center / Tunes & Tones / My Sounds, it is not there. I tried the same thing with my old WAV file and it doesn't appear either. So I think my problem is in BitPim, not in the MP3 vs WAV difference. Was there something I should have done in BitPim to complete the synch before disconnecting the USB cable?

Hrm, I read that verizon released a software update at some point for the revere that blocked bitpim, you must have the newer software.
Do the same as above, but select the LG-VX10000. After you are done and disconnect, reboot the phone.
If it still doesn't work, try putting it in the /synched/my_ringtones folder.

Re: LG Revere: Specifications for WAV to play properly on LG VN150 Revere?
As you suggested, I changed the selection to LG-VX10000, put my MP3 file in both my_sounds and my_ringtones, disconnected the USB and rebooted the phone (powered down, removed battery for 10 sec, reinstalled battery and powered up). SUCCESS! The MP3 file is now found in both My Ringtones and My Sounds, and plays well both places. I consider the problem solved. THANK YOU for your help!
[Edit] P.S. I tried it again without removing the battery, just power-cycling the phone was enough.Last edited by richpasco; 11-12-2013 at 10:38 AM. Reason: Add P.S.

I should note that after I installed BitPim, my daily routine scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware found (and removed) several undesired (and potentially malicious) programs which had apparently tagged along for the ride with BitPim. It calls into question the integrity of the publisher.

Re: LG Revere: Specifications for WAV to play properly on LG VN150 Revere?
Since you asked, I went back into my MBAM logs and looked:
- PUP.Optional.Conduit.A
- PUP.Optional.SearchProtect.A
both were Quarantined and deleted successfully.
I had run an MBAM scan the day before installing BitPim and it came up clean. MBAM found these the evening after. Not ascribing blame here, just asking the obvious questions.Last edited by richpasco; 11-13-2013 at 12:59 PM.
