Device Lock Management

Changing the Device Lock Password / PIN:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "All apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Scroll down to "Personal" and tap "Security"
  4. Tap "Screen lock" > "Password"
  5. Enter your password, then re-enter it for confirmation
  6. Tap "OK"

Enabling / Disabling / Changing Device Lock:

  1. Tap "All apps" from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Security"
  4. Tap "Screen lock" and select one of the following options:
    • Slide
    • Face Unlock
    • Pattern
    • PIN
    • Password
    • None (selecting this option will disable screen lock)
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions for the option that you have selected

SIM PIN Management

Changing the SIM PIN:

  1. While viewing any of the home screens, tap the "All apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Security"
  4. Under "SIM CARD LOCK, tap "Set up SIM card lock"
  5. If necessary, tap "Lock SIM card" to select the check box and enable, and enter your current SIM PIN then press "OK"
  6. Tap "Change SIM PIN"
  7. Enter your current PIN. NOTE: by default, the SIM PIN is usually "1234" or "0000"
  8. Tap "OK"
  9. Enter the new PIN and tap "OK"
  10. Re-enter the new PIN for confirmation, and tap "OK" once more

Enabling / Disabling SIM PIN:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "All apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Security"
  4. Scroll to "SIM CARD LOCK" and tap "Set up SIM card lock"
  5. If necessary, follow these additional steps:
    • Tap "Lock SIM card" to mark the check box
    • Enable and then enter your current SIM PIN
    • Tap "OK"

PUK Code Unlock

Related PUK Code Errors:

  • PIN code blocked. Enter PUK code:
  • Enter PUK code
  • SIM card locked. Emergency calls only. Please contact Customer Care

Assuming that you have entered the SIM PIN incorrectly for several times in a row, your device will prevent you from attempting entering the SIM PIN again. To unblock the SIM card PIN, you will first need a PUK code.

  1. Contact your carrier's Customer Care service to request the PUK code
  2. Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen
  3. On the dialer, enter "**05*[PUK]*[New PIN]*[New PIN]#", where "PUK" is the code provided by the carrier, and "New PIN" is the new PIN. NOTE: if this method does not work, enter the PUK code only, then enter the new PIN when prompted
  4. When the unblocking is successful, you should see the "Unblocking PIN: Registration was successful" message on the screen. Tap "OK"
