Mobile Hotspot through Wi-Fi

NOTE: Depending on your carrier agreement, using mobile hotspot to share your phone's data connectivity can result in extra charges on your contract.

Setting up Mobile Hotspot:

  1. While viewing any of the home screens, tap the "All apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "More" under "Wireless & networks"
  4. Press "Tethering & portable hotspot"
  5. Mark the check box associated with "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot"
  6. Tap "Set up Wi-Fi hotspot"
  7. Touch the "Network SSID" field to enter a name for the network
  8. Select the desired security option from the "Security" drop-down menu
  9. If prompted, type in a password
  10. Tap "Save"

Enabling / Disabling Mobile Hotspot:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "All apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Wireless & networks", tap "More"
  4. Tap "Tethering & portable hotspot"
  5. Mark the "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" check box

Your phone will start broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name and you will be able to connect up to 8 other devices in order to share your mobile data connection.

Tethering through USB

You can share your mobile data connection with your computer via USB. NOTE: Tethering via USB can result in extra charges on your mobile contract, depending on the type of agreement that you have with the operator.

NOTE: USB tethering is not supported on Mac OS

  1. Connect the smartphone to your computer using the USB cable that came with your handset
  2. On your smartphone, a USB icon will appear at the top of the screen, and the "Connected as a media device" or "Connected as a camera" will briefly pop-up at the top of the screen
  3. While viewing the home screen, tap "All apps"
  4. Tap "Settings"
  5. Tap "More" under "Wireless & networks"
  6. Tap "Tethering & portable hotspot"
  7. Mark the check box associated with "USB tethering"
  8. Your computer should now share your smartphone's data connection
  9. When you wish to stop tethering, safely disconnect your smartphone from your computer
