WARNING! Master Resetting your smartphone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. This goes for contacts, third party apps, custom ringtones, downloaded content, images etc. Keep in mind that a master reset will not delete data stored on the SD or SIM cards. Before performing a factory reset, make sure you've backed up your data.

Master Resetting via the Settings Menu:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "General"
  4. Tap "Backup & reset"
  5. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset phone"
  6. Tap "Erase everything"
  7. Review the warning information, and press "OK" to confirm

Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys:

NOTE: Perform this method of reset assuming that the phone is unresponsive, it crashes / freezes or it otherwise prevents you from applying a master reset using the settings menu. Keep in mind that, much like in the case of a reset through the settings menu, you will lose all personal data stored on the internal memory.

  1. Turn off your smartphone. NOTE: make sure that the handset is not connected to any USB connectors
  2. With the smartphone turned off, press and hold the "power" and "Volume down" buttons at the same time
  3. Keep pressing the buttons for about 8 seconds. Once the "LG" logo appears, release the "Power" button, and immediately after, re-press and hold it
  4. Once the "Factory Hard Reset" screen pops-up, release the hardware keys
  5. Press the "Power" key to reset the smartphone. NOTE: to cancel, press "Volume Up" or "Volume Down"
  6. Press the "Power" key again to confirm the reset, and wait for your device to complete the process and reboot
