Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

    1. Establish a connection between the LG VOLT and your PC using the USB cable
    2. When prompted, tap "Media Sync (MTP)" on your smartphone
    3. From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
    4. In a separate Windows Explorer window, navigate to where the desired audio files are stored on your computer's hard drive
    5. Copy the desired sound files and paste them on your phone's storage. NOTE: you should paste the audio files in the "Ringtones" and "Notifications" folders
    6. Once the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
    7. Next, click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
    8. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone from the PC

    Changing the Phone's Ringtone:

    1. Make sure that the desired audio files have been transferred in the "Ringtones" directory
    2. From the phone's home screen, press "Menu"
    3. Tap "System settings" and select "Sound"
    4. Under "Ringtone & Notifications", tap "Phone ringtone"
    5. Choose a ringtone to assign it. NOTE: the audio files transferred in the "Ringtones" folder should appear under "My Ringtones"

Setting a Custom Ringtone to One Contact:

    1. Launch the "Contacts" application
    2. Select the desired contact
    3. Tap "Edit"
    4. Tap the "Ringtone" drop-down menu and select the desired sound loop
    5. Tap "OK" > "Save"

    Changing the Notifications Sound:

    1. Ensure that you have transferred the desired audio files in the "Notifications" folder
    2. Press the "Menu" key while on a home screen
    3. Tap "System settings" > "Sound"
    4. Tap "Notification sound" under "System"
    5. Select the audio file that you wish to set as the notification sound. NOTE: items that have been added in the "Notifications" directory will appear under "My Notifications"
    6. In case the notification sound check boxes are greyed out, you'll need to change the phone's sound profile from "Silent" to "Sound"

I wish there was a way to edit(cut) music that I have downloaded to use as custom ringtones.

Re: LG VOLT: Transfer Audio Files from a Computer and Use Them as Custom Ringtones and Notifications

Nice explanation of steps. It does require knowing where to find some menu items (i.e. "Safely eject..."), so it's not completely for the novice, but if you have some computer savvy, you can get through your bullet points successfully. Thanks for a job well done.
