Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap Battery & power saving under Phone Management
- Tap the Battery saver switch to ON
- You can select the battery percentage at which battery saving mode enables automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the apps drawer
- Tap Settings
- Access Display
- Tap Brightness under Basic settings
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- From the Display menu, tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Access the Networks tab
- Tap Tethering under Connectivity
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and set the feature OFF
- Return to Settings
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to disable these features
- Access the General tab and under Personal, tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving (Networks only)
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap the Networks tab
- Tap More under Connectivity
- Tap Mobile networks
- Enable Use only 2G networks
Disable Background Data:
- Go to Settings
- From the Networks tab, tap mobile data
- Tap Menu and enable Restrict background data
- Tap OK
Change Sync Settings:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts & sync
- Clear the Auto-sync data option
- Select an app under Accounts to change sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phones battery life even when not in use assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open the Apps drawer
- Tap Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded
- Tap and hold the desired app
- Tap Force stop or Uninstall > OK
Update the OS:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so its highly recommended to keep your phones firmware up to date. To check for updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Phone management and tap About phone
- Tap Update Center > System updates
- Tap Check for update
- If a new OS version is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install it
