Turn on Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”
  5. Tap the switch to enable Battery saver

Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. While on the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Location” (GPS)
  3. Ensure the tiles are removed of color, indicating that the features associated with them are disabled

Change GPS Settings to Battery Saving:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Location” > “Mode”
  4. Select “Battery saving”

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Tap “Apps” > “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Cellular networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Choose “2G” or “3G”
  6. By selecting “LTE” you will re-enable 4G connectivity

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Display”
  4. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  5. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness level towards the left
  6. Go back to “Display”
  7. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can set your accounts / phone to sync less data in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  4. Choose an account and tap “Sync” to disable the desired sync options

Minimize the Use of 3rd Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party apps can have an effect on your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them, as long as the apps run regular processes in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party applications.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  4. Access the “Downloaded” section and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” to turn off the app, or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove it completely

Keep the Software Up To Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates can include improvements to battery life, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll down and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates”, and follow the on-screen prompts to install updates if available
