Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the application’s cache and / or data.

WARNING! When you clear an application’s data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes profiles, saved games, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the app’s cache.

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down while viewing the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. If necessary, go to the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Apps” and swipe to “All
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache
  7. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the issues, you can tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (read WARNING above before doing so)

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. All third party apps are disabled in this mode by default. To reboot in Safe Mode:

  1. Wake up the screen
  2. On the home screen, press and hold “Power
  3. From the pop-up menu, tap and hold “Power off
  4. At the “Restart in Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK
  5. Wait for the phone to restart. Once done, a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left area of the home screen
  6. Go to “Settings” and access the “General” tab
  7. Tap “Apps
  8. Swipe to “Downloaded
  9. Select the desired app
  10. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  11. Once you have removed the app, you can exit Safe Mode by restarting your phone as you normally would

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you’re planning to factory reset it, you can try solving these issues by wiping the cache partition instead. This can solve similar issues as a factory reset, without losing any personal data in the process.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Go to “General” if necessary
  4. Tap “Storage
  5. Wait for the phone to finish calculating data
  6. Tap “Cached data” > “Yes
  7. Wait for the phone to clear the cache, and once done, you should see a considerable lower value under “Cached data”

NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didn’t solve the issues you experience with your device, you can visit this thread for a guide on how you can instead factory reset the phone.
