Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal data stored within the app will be lost. This includes user profiles, login and credit card information, save files, settings etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the application’s cache.

  1. Drag the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab if needed
  4. Tap “Apps
  5. Swipe to “All” and select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache
  7. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problem, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (read WARNING above)

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” while viewing the home screen
  2. From the pop-up menu, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Restart in Safe Mode”, tap “OK
  4. Wait for the device to reboot, and once done you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. To uninstall an app, first go to “Settings
  6. Access the “General” tab and tap “Apps
  7. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  9. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and restart your device as you normally would

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you’re considering master resetting the phone to try and solve these issues, you can try wiping the cache partition instead. This can lead to similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Yes
  6. Wait for the device to clear the cache. Once finished, you should see a considerable lower value under “Cached data
