Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! By clearing the app’s data, all personal data stored within the app, such as saved games, profiles, credit card and login information, settings, high scores etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the app’s cache.

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Go to the “General” tab and tap “Apps
  4. Swipe to “All” and tap “Clear cache
  5. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “Yes”. NOTE: read the Warning above

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the phone’s cache partition.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access the “General” section and tap “Storage
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Yes” to wipe the cache partition
  6. Once the process is done, you should see a lower amount of “cached data” than before

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. While viewing the home screen, press and hold “Power
  2. In the “Power management” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Restart in Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK
  4. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” label should be displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. Launch “Settings
  6. Go to the “General” tab
  7. Tap “Apps” and go to “Downloaded
  8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  9. After removing the app, you can exit safe mode by restarting your phone as you normally would: press and hold “Power” and tap “Power off
