WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones and media files, downloaded content, contacts, applications etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before you reset the device you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on how to restore data. Remember that a factory reset will not affect data located on the SD and SIM cards.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” and check the “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data” check boxes
  4. Tap “Backup account
  5. Select a Google account or follow the on-screen prompts to create or sign in with an account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset” and read the warning pop-up
  7. Choose whether to “Erase SD card” too. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted by the reset process
  8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next
  9. Lastly, tap “Delete all” > “OK

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the phone from the settings menu, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

  1. Ensure the phone is powered off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume Down” at the same time
  3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all buttons
  5. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to confirm the highlighted option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset the device

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
  3. Scroll to, and tap “About phone” > “Software info
  4. Verify if a new update is available for download, and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install them (NOTE: This process will require a reboot)
