Cell phones are more and more similar to computers so it is no wonder there are viruses and spyware for cell phones as well. This is just "legal" spyware with good intention. Poor kids, I mean it is not really a nice thing to do.

For example, a standard non-smartphone, even with an HTML browser, cannot get malware. Blackberrys, with GSM carriers can but with CDMA cannot. This is because CDMA is more secured and it will just restrict you from bad sites altogether.

how does the app work on an iPhone when they do not allow background processing?

Is there any cell phone spy ware out there that can be downloaded to a phone if there is no access to that phone?
