Currently there is no application for using Verizon Backup Assistant with the Droid. The following is a method for getting your contacts from Verizon's Backup Assistant to your New Motorola Droid.
This will only work if you have previously synced your old phone using the Verizon Backup Assistant program
Step 1
- Log into http://www.getbackupnow.com
- Click on 'Export to CSV' located in the top right
- Save the file in a known location, like your desktop
Step 2
- Assuming you have already hooked up phone up to gmail, open up your gmail account
- Click on 'Contacts' in the left column
- Click 'Import' in the top right
- Select the csv file that you just exported
- Select any group that you may want and Click Import
- Make sure you contacts have loaded correctly into Gmail
- On your Droid, go to Contacts > Menu > Accounts - under Manage Accounts make sure your gmail account "Sync is ON".
- Your contacts should import to your phone and all should be well at this point

Re: Load Contacts from Verizon Backup Assistant to Motorola Droid
Gmail import shows support for .csv extensions, to which Verizion Backup Assistant can directly export. It's not tested, but try this method first as it's much faster:
1) http://www.getbackupnow.com/
2)Login
3)Export as .csv
4)Log in to gmail on your pc
5)Contacts
6)New groups - "Phone" or "backup"
7)Import (top right of dialogue screen)
8)Locate the .csv on your harddrive
9)Sync with Droid
10)????
11)Profit!

Re: Load Contacts from Verizon Backup Assistant to Motorola Droid
I did this process and it worked...for the most part. When I view the contacts on my Droid, the contact information from my csv file was created as notes for each entry. The fields did not import properly. Any tips or tricks to getting this to work properly so the phone numbers are in the proper fields??

Re: Load Contacts from Verizon Backup Assistant to Motorola Droid
Here is the problem with the OP'S instructions.
He does not tell you that you must choose the group called "Starred in Android" when importing the CSV file to Gmail.
If you use "Friends" or any group that you may want, (As he puts it) the phone number loads into a "Notes" field. The Droid cannot take the notes and populate them into its mobile number field. When this happens, your Droid cannot tell you who is calling. Also, it will not let you call anyone from your contact list. You must manually enter the phone number into the key pad.
Make sure you save the CSV file correctly. When you save it, make sure you Save As CSV (comma delimited). Also, make sure you save it to the correct Gmail group...."Starred In Android".Hi,
