Safe Mode
- With the phone off, slide open the keyboard open
- Press and hold the Power+Menu button (on the keyboard)
- Continue to hold until the "Droid Eye" comes up and you feel the phone vibrate
- Phone should start up and say "Safe Mode" in the bottom left-hand corner
- Explanation - This starts only the core Android processes. This is best used for diagnosing if a 3rd party application is causing your phone to malfunction or if you cannot uninstall if when in regular mode.
- TRY THIS FIRST if you are having any problems with your phone acting up, especially with the built-in Android apps (example - Messaging app is crashing. Boot in Safe Mode. If app doesn't crash when doing what you were doing in regular mode, it's most likely going to be a 3rd party app with access to messaging that is causing a problem.)
- BE AWARE that after coming out of Safe Mode, 3rd party widgets might not display properly on the home screen. Press and hold on the widget and drag it down into the trash can, then readd it to the home screen. This will fix the "problem loading widget" error.

Thanks,

Re: Motorola Droid Tips & Tricks
I must be doing something wrong. The "add" is grayed out on my Droid. Is there a magic trick for this?

Re: Motorola Droid Tips & Tricks
You should add your find about how to set different sounds to notifications to the list.

Re: Motorola Droid Tips & Tricks
Last night I discovered, if you are in an application, and there's an address, you can tap on the address and it'll bring you into the Map program so you can map it or navigate to it. Works for things like PDFs, too. Very cool indeed.
Not sure if everyone figured out you can see all notifications on the phone by dragging the top menubar down. I found it by accident, not totally intuitive but I'm guessing most people do stumble on it. But, in case you haven't, try it.
Loving this phone the more I use it...
Also, there's a YouTube channel for Android (just got a, "Welcome to Android," email). It's here.

Re: Motorola Droid Tips & Tricks
I just dropped AT&T and the IPhone and came back to Verizon. Would have never left if this phone was available months ago. Had the Storm and was not happy. And to be quite honest, dropped calls were a nuisance. This phone simply rocks. Few differences from the IPhone and that is to be expected, but overall a very nice phone. That being said, how do you save pictures from emails with the droid; or can you? I figured out how to save from a MMS but can't figure out email. Not a drawback if it's not possible, but the IPhone did do this quite well. Great forum for new owners of the Droid...

Re: Motorola Droid Tips & Tricks
Found you can't tap an address in a text message to bring you to Maps. That's a bummer.
