How-to: Merge/Join contacts on the Motorola Droid

I have looked all over and cannot find the Join function anywhere. Is there some other way to find this?

EDIT: OK, I found the function, but now when I press "Join", I get a message at the top of the screen that says "Join Contacts, select the contacts that you would like to join" but then there are no names underneath to select. Help?

Try selecting the other contact that you want to Join - I found that I couldn't join a gmail contact but I could join a facebook contact with another.

No luck with either contact, or any contact! So far, it's just a blank page for all.

is there any way you can backup your contacts by syncing them from your droid to your gmail? I tried this once, but it deleted some of my numbers that I didnt have in my gmail account

Is there a way to choose which contact name it displays? I have a few contacts who don't use their full name on Facebook or Picasa, and when I link that contact record with one that has their full name (such as my email or the phone contacts) it's automatically choosing the contact name.

I've tried editing the contact and putting in the person's full name the way I want it to display it and choose save, but it still seems to be randomly choosing which name to display. When I click Edit again it did save the name as I entered it, it just won't display that.
