I found a great application that will allow you to sync your Droid with iTunes. A lot of you will really like this, I'm sure. Here are the steps to get this working:
    • Download doubleTwist (PC | Mac) - install it
    • Launch doubleTwist - Log in or create a new account
    • The program will take a min to import your iTunes files - while it's doing that continue to the next step
    • Connect your Droid to your computer with USB cable
    • On the home screen, pull down Notifications
    • Select USB Connected
    • Select Mount
    • Set up the sync settings you want or you can manually drap and drop things to your Droid

    Ah, thanks.

Nice to have but probably won't put music on my Droid. Still plan on using iPods for that. They're still better for music than anything out there (for me anyway). I just don't have to get myself an iPod Touch now (the wife has one, I have an older one).

The Droid has awesome sound quality. I was amazed how good the sound was and I have listened to a few mp3 players.

Does the Droid store the music on the SD card?

Re: Sync iTunes with your Motorola Droid for Free!

I was one of those people that wasn't sure I wanted to have a mp3 player and gps in my phone. What if I want to talk to someone while I'm playing songs or while I'm using my gps??? Well I find that I don't really use it while I'm using it as a gps but I have while I'm using it as a mp3 player.
Two things surprised me. 1) while using it as a mp3 player, you can just touch the home icon then phone and dial the number. The Droid will use your car speakers and microphone for your phone (or if you have a microphone in your car then that). Actually I like it better as it is handsfree and everyone says it sounds so clear.
As soon as you are donewith your call, your music starts right back from the moment it stopped. The GPS is a little different. Either I don't know how to do it or it's not possible but if you make an outbound call it actually stops the GPS and you have to enter the address again and start all over.
So I'm surprised but I like using the Droid over my IPod(which I loved) and now I'm only carrying one thing instead of two. Nice.

Very cool, however this seems like a work around just for geeks (that's a complement folks) - why not just go with an iPhone which synch's with iTunes right out of the box (and always will)?

Make a folder on your sd card called music. You can also make folders called: alarms, ringtones, and notifications and the Droid will find any mp3's you put in these folders for the appropriate uses. I found a bunch of sounds for email and SMS notification and alarm sounds for the alarm clock on the internet. You can also just drag songs from itunes to the music folder, or just copy/paste in explorer. I don't have an ipod but use itunes to organize my music. I am OCD about my mp3 tags and album art and spent many hours editing my 7000 songs. If itunes cant find the art I Google the album image and embed it with mp3tag.

Because some of us don't use AT&T and I personally prefer the droid over the iPhone anyday. Just my .02 though

Just out of curiosity, does this work both ways? I see videos and pictures as options and I have the Ipod touch which doesn't include a camera - will this allow me to sync photos from my droid onto the ipod? Also, will this work for videos I had to register - for instance I have a digital copy of the dark knight on my ipod touch, if I sync videos will that video then work on my droid?

I have a work phone on the AT&T network and my personal on Verizon. More of my co-workers / managers have to call me on my Verizon Blackberry because they cannot reach me on my AT&T work cell. I hate the AT&T service and would NEVER put my personal cell on it. That being said, I personally do not care for the iPhone but I do love iTunes...
