Is there a way to lock the screen and still talk on the phone while it's next to my ear? The screen is so sensitive that I'm constantly disconnecting. I don't want to have to use an earpiece or the speaker all the time! Can't believe I'm the only one with this problem!

You can lock the phone and still talk on it. Regardless, the proximity sensor should kick in and disable the screen while it's up to your ear. Is it not?

The screen darkens fine. However, it's so sensitive that my ear and/or my cheek "click" the screen and phone calls disconnect. That's why I want to lock it - so my phone calls can continue

I have the same problem with this phone, it seems to only happen when I am holding the phone in my right hand. I believe what happens is that when I'm moving around the sensor gets far enough away from my face that it doesn't keep the screen frozen then my hair or something moves the screen either muting it or sometimes hanging it up.

lol... my mother does that all time. I never have that problem though. Don't move the phone around too much while you're talking on it and don't press it against your face. If you hold it on your shoulder while you're talking, you'll be tilting it and activating the accelerometer thus turning on the screen.

Re: Droid screen sensitivity & phone call disconnect

I was looking to see if anyone else has this problem of disconnecting, muting, dialing during calls because the screen doesn't stay dark. Verizon claims this isn't a problem. They said it's the way I use the phone, there's nothing wrong with the phone. So, I wondered if you resolved your issue? I bought a new Droid in June, got a "pre-owned" in July and another preowned in Oct. They all do the same thing. I am getting ready to go to the Better Business Bureau. They won't let me get a different phone.
